Australian Government censors UNESCO report on Great Barrier Reef #ReefGate

A UNESCO report identifies World Heritage sites at risk from climate change, but there is no mention of Australian sites in the report. The Australian Government requested that all mentions be deleted, and this was complied with by UNESCO. This censorship of science should raise many questions.

2013 temperatures for Australia were off the charts claims Climate Council

The Climate Council has released it's latest report written by Professor Will Steffen: Off the Charts: 2013 was Australia's hottest year.

It draws heavily on the detail in the Bureau of Meteorology Annual Climate Statement for 2013 which I reported on, but also puts the information in context with the global trend and other scientific papers and reviews such as the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report, IPCC Working Group 1: the Physcical Science released in late September 2013.

IPCC report: Climate Council Q & A with Professor Will Steffen

While the AMOS event was occurring Professor Will Steffen and Amanda MacKenzie from the Climate Council conducted a live Q and A via twitter, facebook and youtube on the IPCC report.

The Climate Council was established two weeks ago after the Climate Commission was abolished as one of the first acts of the new Federal Government lead by Tony Abbott. The public reaction to the axing of the Climate Commission was an outpouring of donations to the new non-government Climate Council to continue it's valuable work. More than $1 million has been raised from 20,000 people, mostly in small donations.
