USA: Thousands march, about 100 arrested in Washington DC including climate scientist James Hansen
On the 27th of September, thousands of opponents of mountaintop removal coal mining converged on DC. Many were from West Virgina, Tennesee, and other areas devastated by this destructive mining practice. Premier Brumby acts to neutralise Climate change issue for Victorian election
It follows the lead in August by the minority Labor and Green ACT Government announced cuts to greenhouse gas emissions of 40 per cent by 2020, and 80 per cent by 2050, based on 1990 levels.
